Seaport Village...

The first time I ever visited San Diego as a teen
we went to Seaport Village. It's such a great
place to walk around and check out that we
continue to go there time and time again. There is SO
much to do and see, we highly recommend it!
(Sorry a couple pics aren't loading well)

Pretty high rise hotels are within walking distance.

It's right on San Diego Bay & there are awesome
boats & ships to watch.

There are lots of fun shops to go to... We love the
hat shop! Here's my sister trying on a goofy hat!

There is a famous restaurant that is out above the
water. They have great seafood!

LOTS of fun photo opportunities!
My brother & nephew posing with the pirate
statue like only BOYS can... ;)

There are ALL kinds of sidewalk performers!
We've seen many but the Fire Blower & the
Sword Swallower are our favorites!

On this recent trip when we took my family who
was in town visiting, there was an Exotic Bird Exhibit.
They were just letting people hold them.
This is me with my adorable nephew, he held SO
still for that parrot & was amazed!

Last but not least the FOOD! There are MANY great
places to eat! Our favorite is the Greek Island Cafe.
The sweets shop takes the cake too! YUMMY!

If you ever need something to do in SD,
this is a great place to go :)

La Jolla Cove...

The beautiful La Jolla Cove...
THE best place to snorkel and scuba in
the SD area. Amazing water & kelp beds!

Little tunnel to a hidden beach front...

Children's Pool Beach, famously known
for being a landing spot for seals & sea lions!
You really can get up close and personal... just no touching!

Some get shy and prefer the rocky islands a few yards away.

Sea Lions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harbor Seal!!!!!!!

I was a little confused as to the difference between seals
and sea lions... It's really about ears! :)

The cove rocks and we have been back several times
already. One of these days we'll get scuba certified and
the cove is my first destination! Great spot!

Sunset...

There is nothing better than a sunset walk on the beach.
These are just a couple shots as we enjoyed the last
of the days sun on La Jolla Shores Beach....

Breakfast at The Cottage...

We LOVE The Village in La Jolla!
We are so lucky to live in such a great area
of sunny San Diego! The Village is a quaint little
area of shops, boutiques, eateries, swanky restaurants,
markets, and ties in with La Jolla Cove(beach area).

Right when we moved here I found this delicious little joint
and breakfast was on our menu!

The Cottage in The Village offers a combination of classy
modern meets homey cottage feel. It's got a contemporary
touch in the menu and decor, but don't let that fool you.
The Cottage offers some of the most delectable food you
could ever ask for.

One item ordered was Stuffed French Toast! It was a
twist on traditional french toast and did it ever deliver!
Thick french toast stuffed with strawberry compote and
marscarpone cheese, topped with fresh strawberries, and
dusted with powdered sugar... you drooling yet?

Another item ordered is a famous dish served at The Cottage...
Cottage Oatmeal Pancakes with Bananas..... OMG!
These were point blank the BEST pancakes I have ever
tasted in my ENTIRE life...(OK, I'm not that old, but STILL!)
I know a good pancake and these "took the cake"!
They were just light enough you could eat more than one
and not feel sick, and just enough substance to really
call itself a pancake. HIGHLY Recommended!

The Cottage is one of the most popular and busy
places to eat in all of La Jolla! We felt lucky to have
snagged a table, and we will surely be returning!
Hopefully we'll be able to try lunch and dinner
there too sometime!

...Now I'm really hungry for banana pancakes :(

Cabrillo Nat'l Monument...

Our latest adventure has been Cabrillo National Monument!
It's located on the very tip of Point Loma & the view is
absolutely unbeatable!!! We had so much fun touring the
monument, visiting the lighthouse, and exploring the tide pools!

The beautiful statue of Cabrillo himself.

The original lighthouse of Point Loma

THE View!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Map of San Diego Bay

Cabrillo cliffs & tide pools... it was crawling(with crabs & people)!

EVERY crack & crevice had one or TEN of these guys :)
We hiked around & found a cave!

It was hard to catch the action, but these tide pools were
alive and teaming with marine life!

We stopped at the beautiful grounds of the
Ft. Rosecrans Military Cemetery... It was a great
and sobering experience.

Every detail was perfectly manicured and taken care of.
If I was going to be buried I would
want to rest in such an amazing place as this...

We really enjoyed the day & the history. It was a great
day trip, and we would love to return with visitors.

Rose Canyon Trail

We are outdoorsy people... we are any-kind-of-
activity-to-keep-us-busy people. So a few miles
through a canyon on a very nice breezy day was
just the ticket for us last Sunday.
We chose the Rose Canyon Trail, just a
mile from our place in La Jolla.

The trail was being rehabilitated, and was well kept for
most of our hike...

We saw many creatures along the trail, including this cute
little guy. I've named him Skippy Cottontail...

We saw beautiful HUGE oak trees & this one threw
us for a loop... or maybe a 90degree angle???

We were excited to stumble upon wild watermelon
patches all throughout the trail. Too bad none
of them were big enough to be ripe, I'd have honestly
carried one all the way home!

Those two specs in the sky were eagles! It was
probably a once in a lifetime expericance to see them
flying & playing together in the sky. The best part was
they were making "flight calls"!!! There was nothing
that felt closer to pure nature than hearing that sound.

There were a MILLION lizards running all over the
place. those eagles are probably well fed!

Don't know exactly what these furry things are called??
They accompanied us on our journey & chased
the lizards all day long. We decided to keep them :)

Local Brewery Trip

We took a trip to the beautiful nearby Coronado Island!
Coronado is a quaint island right by dowtown SD, and
is most famously known for The Hotel Del Coronado...

Coronado Island is also known for it's fabulous eateries & boutiques.
We decided to try the Coronado Brewing Company.

We are beer fans, and LOVE to try new brews.
We also LOVE when there are great breweries, & micro-breweries
that are close to us. Tours are always fun & it's a great activity
when you have family or friends in town!
CBC had great beer & yummy food. We will visit again!
Here is what we ordered & the description is right from the menu...

CBC Islander Pale Ale

Coronado island , aka "The Crown City" has a
hidden jewel: our Islander IPA. Brewed within a mile
of the pacific ocean this west coast IPA sweeps the senses
with its intense hop bitterness, complex flavors and aromas.
The Islander IPA pours a nice copper color with a medium body
and maltiness. Silver medal winner at the 2007 L.A. County fair. (7% ABV)
**Personal Review: Yummy, full bodied beer, lived up to it's "hoppiness".**

CBC Veggie Burger
Our veggie patty is a comination of roasted mushrooms,
pimentos, three beans and parmesan, served with lettuce,
tomato, onions and sprouts on a bun.
**Personal Review: As a veggie burger fan, it was one of
the best I've ever tasted, cooked just right!**

CBC Turkey Club
Choice of chicken or turkey breast with bacon, avocado, lettuce,
tomato, onion and sprouts on sourdough bread.
**Personal Review: It was huge! Very delish, very filling, and
everything was so fresh!**

We had drinks and food with good friends & family and
our bill was around $40 including trip. Not a bad deal
for two meals with beer. We had a great time & would
reccomend CBC for sure!
